Annie Oakley, a star of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show, was an American sharpshooter and folk heroine who rose to fame in the late 1800s. Known for her incredible accuracy, she performed feats like shooting cigarettes from mouths, splitting playing cards, and hitting coins in mid-air. Native American chief Sitting Bull nicknamed her “Little Sure Shot”. Oakley challenged gender norms by advocating for women’s rights to learn shooting, training over 15,000 women.
